Panela = Brown sugar

This is a general perception that this cane candy is nothing more than brown sugar. However, this belief is Far from reality.

Brown sugar is obtained by adding molasses to refined sugar. Refined sugars go through an industrial process that bleaches them with chemical additives and extracts all the nutrients from sugar cane juice, concentrating it in 99.99% sugar (sucrose).

On the contrary, La Panela does not undergo the refining process or bleaching with additives. That is why it naturally preserves all the nutrients in the CANE.

Its dark coloration is due to this simple manufacturing process, since when it is subjected to little refining, it makes it retain a certain turbidity but at the same time maintains its mineral content high.

Panela, in addition to having sweetening characteristics, determined by its sucrose content, is a food that:

  • It has the nutritional substances, and in sufficient quantities, that people require for their healthy and balanced diet.

  • It is capable of supplying the energy necessary to carry out the vital functions of human beings.

  • It does not contain substances that are harmful to human health.
